The South African Revenue Service (SARS) and NEDLAC constituencies met this morning at the SARS offices in Brooklyn. During the meeting, SARS made a presentation on its transformation program focusing largely on the Customs Transformation Programme.
The two parties reached an agreement on a structure process of consultation through the Trade and Industry Chamber of NEDLAC. This structure process of consultation will provide all the parties with a platform to exchange information and to address issues of mutual concern.
Mr. Pravin Gordhan, Acting Commissioner for SARS, said that today's meeting was an important step in ensuring the business and labour actively participate in promoting a new culture of tax morality and improved compliance levels in South Africa.
All the parties present felt the meeting was useful and informative.
