SARS OFFERS EXTENDED ASSISTANCE TO KZN TAXPAYERS

To assist KwaZulu-Natal taxpayers to submit their personal income tax returns well before the 8 July deadline and provide advice regarding general tax enquiries, South African Revenue Service (SARS) consultants will be available across the region in June and July.

These service initiatives are part of this year-s Filing Season campaign that was launched by Finance Minister Trevor Manuel on 23 May this year.

Filing Season help booths, a free service from SARS, will be staffed by consultants at the following shopping malls and community centres between 09h00 and 16h00, on the following days:

• Gateway - 27 June to 3 July
• Pavillion - 17 to 19 June, and 1 to 3 July
• Liberty Mall - 24 to 26 June
• Boardwalk - 24 to 26 June
• Shelley Beach -17 to 19 June
• Vryheid Checkers - 24 to 26 June
• Oval Checkers Centre -24 to 26 June
• Ulundi Plaza - 1 to 3 July
• Mtuba Plaza - 1 to 3 July
• Empangeni - Sanlam Centre - 1 to 3 July
• Newcastle Town Hall - 27 June to 1 July, and 4 to 8 July
• Port Shepstone - Shoprite Checkers - from 31 May to 3 June
• Kokstad - Shoprite Checkers - 28 June to 1 July
• Richards Bay Customs Office - 4 to 8 July

Taxpayers should have the following documents to ensure that SARS consultants are able to assist them in completing their tax returns in full:

• IRP 5 Certificate from employer
• Medical Aid Statement (if applicable)
• Retirement Annuity Contribution Certificate (if applicable)
• Investment income advices, such as IT3(b) from financial institution (if applicable)
• All supporting documentation to substantiate claims

Other regions in the country will roll-out similar service initiatives during the weeks ahead.
