The South African Revenue Service (SARS) wishes to announce that its Chief Information Officer (CIO), Mr. Ken Jarvis, will regrettably be leaving SARS at the end of March 2006.
Mr. Jarvis has a distinguished career of more than 30 years in the information and communication technology industry. He joined SARS as CIO in 2002, where he oversaw the Technology and Process division.
SARS will endeavour to find a suitable replacement for the vacancy left by Mr. Jarvis? pending departure.
SARS must thank Mr. Jarvis for his dedicated service to the organisation and by extension, to the tax paying citizens of this country. Under his reign and leadership as CIO, SARS was able to introduce remarkable innovations to its IT operations, in particular the enabling technologies which allow for a single, integrated view of taxpayers across all tax types.
Mr. Jarvis was also instrumental in bringing into effect the free online eFiling service to business and corporate taxpayers. These service initiatives contributed in a significant way to SARS? ability to provide efficient, time saving and effective services to a broad range of taxpayers.
Within the organisation it reduced turnaround times, increased levels of productivity and laid a sound basis for the extended use of IT innovation in future.
SARS wishes Mr. Jarvis well in his future endeavours.
