The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is pleased to announce the final outcome of the tender process for last three towers regarding the provision of ICT Services.
In May this year, SARS issued a media statement announcing the preliminary outcome of the tender process for the provision of ICT Infrastructure Services (RFT 06/2006)
This tender was published on 13 September 2006. The scope of RFT 06/2006 was subdivided into 7 segments or towers, each with a separately awardable element of the tender. The scope is as follows:
Tower 1 Managed Network Services
Tower 2 Data Carrier Services
Tower 3 Voice Carrier Services
Tower 4 ISP Services
Tower 5 Workstation Services
Tower 6 Server Services
Tower 7 Workgroup Printing Services
SARS received a total of 21 bids from 10 separate companies.

Best and Final Offer Process Completed
After a thorough engagement with the bidders involved in the Best and Final Offer process in respect of Tower 1 to 3, the following awards were made:
Tower 1: Managed Network Services
Business Connexion has been appointed as preferred bidder and Dimension Data as reserve bidder for the elements of scope to be awarded in Tower 1.
Tower 2: Data Carrier Services
Dimension Data has been appointed as preferred bidder and Telkom as reserve bidder for elements of scope to be awarded in Tower 2 (Data Carrier Services).
Tower 3: Voice Carrier Services
Dimension Data has been appointed as preferred bidder and Telkom as reserve bidder for Tower 3
SARS will now commence with contract negotiations with preferred bidders.
SARS is pleased with the outcome of the tender process and in particular the savings it has brought. We wish to thank all the bidders who submitted proposals.
