SARS IS SET TO REGISTER CLIENTS FOR THE DIESEL REFUND SCHEME

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) today announced it has started with the registration of clients qualifying for refund in terms of the diesel concession scheme announced by the Minister of Finance earlier this year.

Industries which qualify for the refund are Mining, (Onland and Offshore) Forestry, Farming, Rail Freight Hauliers, Fishing Coastal shipping and the National Sea Rescue Institute.

Direct registration on the SARS Website can be done by electronically submitting the application form under the VAT subsection. Alternatively, registration forms (VAT 101D) can be obtained from any SARS office or can be downloaded by visiting the SARS website www.sars.gov.za and clicking on VAT and VAT forms.

Potential claimants are advised to register no later than July 1.

Refunds will only be allowed on diesel. Alternative fuels and bio diesel will not qualify for the refund.
