DELAY IN THE ISSUING OF VAT 201 FORMS

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) would like to alert VAT vendors of a delay in the issuing of VAT 201 returns for the VAT period ending May 2005.

The returns are usually sent to vendors a month before the payment deadline, but due to a systems problem these were delayed. The error has been rectified and SARS is in the process of posting the forms to affected vendors who should receive them by Monday next week.

The late delivery of these forms has no impact on the deadline for payment of VAT due for the period in question which remains 24 June 2005.

If vendors have not received their forms by the end of business on Monday, 20 June, they should contact their local SARS branch. Alternatively, VAT 201 forms can be downloaded from the SARS website (www.sars.gov.za) and will also be made available at all local SARS offices for vendors who do not have access to the Internet.

All taxpayers using the SARS E-filing facility were not affected by these delays. All taxpayers who have Internet access are encouraged to make use of the advantages of registering and completing submissions via E-Filing.

SARS offices throughout the country are available to assist VAT vendors.

SARS regrets any inconvenience that may have been caused.
