The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has suspended Mr. Franklin Gondwe, Branch Manager for the Mafikeng Revenue Office (Mafikeng Receiver of Revenue). Mr. Gondwe has been charged with fraudulently misrepresenting his academic qualifications, and has been suspended with immediate effect.
SARS views any form of internal fraud and corruption, including misrepresenting academic qualifications, as an unacceptable practice. As the primary revenue-collecting agency for the government, SARS demands of its employees the highest level of integrity. The large majority of the 12 000 men and women employed by SARS are honest and dedicated individuals.
Mr. Hubert Sauka and Mr. Michael Andrew will act as the management team pending the appointment of the new Branch Manager.
